Exclamation Guild Wars Lottery!

First, I'de like to apologize in case this post constitutes advertising, and must be closed.

That said, IT'S A LOTTERY!!!!

My lottery works very simply.

1) 500g entrance fee. This fee gets you added to the contestants list.

2) After payment, I add you to my list.

3) The winner will be randomly selected (bits of paper in a hat) on June 21.

4) If I do not contact you in game on June 21 (or the next date that you are online) then you lost. If I do contact you, then congratulate yourself for winning!

At this point, I will assure everyone that this is 100% secure. I am no scammer. If I was a scammer, I wouldn't post this up on a popular forum where I would be easily caught. All entrance fees are being kept on one character so they are not lost or mixed in with my cash, and all names will be written down both in MS Word and hardcopy to prevent loss of contestant information.

Some other things you may want to know:

- I will take about 5% of the entrance fees to make this worth my while.
- EDIT>>> I have decided that I might as well do something good for the game community with this, so 2% of my 5% will be donated to new players in need of armor Ascalon and Shing Jea Island (so hurry up and buy your ticket, this supports a good cause).
- The other 95% is the cash prize.
- Only one ticket is allowed per account
- Ideally I will draw the winner at about 7pm eastern time on June 21
- I will not be adding any contestants to my in game friend lsit, so if you need to contact me after entering, ensure that you cantact me via the character that you signed up with so that I know who you are.

If you are interested in joining this lottery, contact me in game at Midgets Beware.

Good Luck!!!

Honestly, you have done nothing to show it is not a scam.

Here's a suggestion - get one of the moderators here to hold all of the money, and not you. You only get the money after you pick a winner. The mod first gives the prize to the winner, and then pays you.

Anyone less than a moderator here, or an employee of arenanet, should not be trusted for something like this.

Finally, for American players, this contest -might- actually be a violation of internet gambling laws... so enter with caution.

Good idea. I assume the mods here will read this at some point, so if any of you want to carry the cash, just post it up and we'll arragne a meeting.

As for gambling laws, I guess I should've brushed up on that myself before starting this. I don't htink anything bad will come if it though.

I am now contacting the people that posted their interest above.

I don't think in-game gambling is promoted by guru or GW.

Hm...that's worrisome. I don't want to just abruptly cancel at this point though.

If it does fall apart, then refunds will of course be provided.

EDIT>>> I've just sent a support question via the official site inquiry as to the legality of my actions. I should receive my reply before the June 21 finish date, so if it turns out that I am in the wrong refunds will be provided to all who participated.

well i'm in if it's ok for the forum and anet, so if they don't like this idea just close the thread instead of banning people because they didn't know it was illegal....but why illegal when everything is in-game?

Sounds like a great idea, getting someone trusted in to hold the cash would help, not calling you a scammer, i just think having a trustworthy face behind it might help popularity also.

Nah, I don't give my money to strangers. Today someone wanted me to give him 200g, to make me Guild leader. I see everyday people who try to sell armour to unsuspecting newbies.
I say work for your gold. An anonimous lottery made by strangers is very easy to scam.

Out of all the people I meet in GW, you are telling me you're not trying to scam me? YEAH RIGHT!

I'm not stupid, go put your worthless scams somewhere else.

Mods, please close this thread.

My guild doesn't even know about it for that reason. I'll be honest, at this point there are only about 6 people on the list as of last night when I went to sleep. So, even if I did scam everyone I wouldn't exactly be stealing a crazy fortune or anything. It wouldn't be worth the bad reputation.

I notice the thread is still alive at this point, after some hours. Does that mean the mods are ok with this, or that they havn't read it yet??? If some mod is ok with this, I still need a money carrier, so one of you guys/gals can feel free to step forward.

I understand the skepticism from you guys, and I actually encourage caution. I asked Anet about the legality of this last night, so hopefully I will recieve a response within 24 hours. Until I am told one way or the other I won't add any more names to the list, so just wait a while Bullet.

Well it is a weekend, AND Fathers Day in America... even the mods take some time to relax n stuff.

Be prepared though - there's a reason nobody is doing this commonly after a years time.
